The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organizing a special event titled \u201cThe Passage of Thai Fabric, Thailand\u2019s Pride and Prestige: A Tribute to Her Majesty the Queen\u201d <\/strong>at Siam Paragon to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queen\u2019s 84th<\/sup> birthday.<\/p>\n

An objective of this event is to promote cultural tourism through the display of unique textile designs that tell of different stories, in collaboration with top-notch designers and young designers across the country.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul,<\/strong> Minister of Tourism and Sport, unveiled that \u201cThis event is arranged in celebration of the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queen\u2019s 84th<\/sup> birthday to recognize her life-long contribution to the preservation and promotion of Thai silks, making them known to the world. In addition, this event is aimed at promoting cultural tourism \u2013 with a focus on silk-producing villages that are differently charming, which will lead to more jobs created for the local, their greater incomes, and the preservation of local ways of life in the long run. \u201c<\/p>\n

The event \u2013 \u201cThe Passage of Thai Fabric, Thailand\u2019s Pride and Prestige: A Tribute to Her Majesty the Queen\u201d \u2013 will feature two major parts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first part<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first part<\/strong> is an exhibition that showcases fifteen new tourist routes. Visitors will be able to learn more about the new routes through the stories, local cultures and beliefs that are depicted through signature weaving techniques and textile patterns. In this exhibition there will be weaving demonstrations together with local handicrafts from more than 20 booths. Interested persons can attend the exhibition on 20 \u2013 21 August 2016 at Lifestyle Hall on the 2nd<\/sup> Floor of Siam Paragon.<\/p>\n

\"Model<\/a><\/p>\n

The second part<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The second part\u00a0<\/strong>is a fashion show from five renowned brands, whose people are committed to conserving and developing the beauty of Thai silks, including Polpat Asavaprapha from ASAVA, Saksit Pisalasupongs and Phisit Jongnarangsin from Tube Gallery, Chai Jiamkittikul from Chai Gold Label, Prapakas Angsusingh from Hook\u2019s, and Pupawit Kritpolnara from ISSUE, as well as fifteen new talented designers. The fashion show is, therefore, built upon the collaboration between\u00a0top-notch designers and new talents, allowing them to share what they have learned from visiting the silk-producing villages and studying weaving techniques on-site, as well as exchanging their thoughts with the communities. The show will feature as many as 55 stunning outfits.<\/p>\n

\"Model<\/a><\/p>\n

The Thai fabrics that will be showcased at the event are local silks with exceptional characteristics and patterns such as the Lai Nam Lai (\u2018water-flowing\u2019) pattern from Nan province, Mudmee pattern from Lopburi \u00a0province, the indigo-dyed pattern from Sakon Nakhon province, the Hole pattern and the Um Prom pattern from Surin province, and the Pumriang textile pattern from Surat Thani.<\/p>\n
