Rather than a \u201cfashion\u201d or \u201cart\u201d exhibition in the traditional\u00a0sense, Mon Art du Style aims to showcase a particular vision or philosophy of \u201cstyle\u201d through\u00a0the collective presence of the garments and artworks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20170225_174541.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3542\" src=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20170225_174541-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"20170225_174541\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notable works by Montien Boonma, Pinaree Sanpitak, Manit Sriwanichpoom,Chatchai Puipia, Niti Wattuya, Navin Rawanchaikul among other emblematic figures of Thai\u00a0contemporary art are presented alongside of a selection of pieces by international and Thai\u00a0design houses, including Lanvin, ISSEY MIKAKE, Yohji Yamamoto, Yves Saint Laurent,Christian Dior, Nagara, TIRAPAN, and PICHITA to name just a few.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20170225_174535.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3543\" src=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/20170225_174535-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"20170225_174535\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<h4>The garments and artworks are presented together thematically\u2014largely based\u00a0on their visual or cultural resonance. The exhibition does not attempt to show the pieces based\u00a0on any historical or chronological order, but takes the viewer on a more visual and emotional\u00a0journey. Rather than subtracting or distracting from the meaning of the artworks, the presence\u00a0of the clothes adds a sense of fleeting poignancy. If artworks are immortalized emblems of\u00a0human ideas, the garments and silhouettes imply of the presence of its mortal admirer. Each\u00a0artwork or garment, while may be appreciated individually, is meant to be seen within the\u00a0larger context of a global aesthetic universe. Their juxtaposition shows the visual, emotional,and often poetic dialogue between \u201cart\u201d and \u201cstyle\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/MAIIAM13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3544\" src=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/MAIIAM13-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"MAIIAM13\" width=\"538\" height=\"807\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>.A new work by Jakkai Siributr created especially for this exhibition pushes even further\u00a0the idea of \u201cdialogue\u201d between garment and art. BPB is a tapestry composed entirely of Patsri\u2019s\u00a0everyday garments that were cut-up and re-stitched together into a richly textured patchwork<br \/>\n\u2014a m\u00e9lange of traditional Thai \u201cmo hom\u201d indigo and the famous \u201cPleats Please\u201d pleated fabric.<\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/MAIIAM15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3545\" src=\"http:\/\/ifreedom.wwwss16.a2hosted.com\/travelthaiculture.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/MAIIAM15-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"MAIIAM15\" width=\"491\" height=\"736\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<h4>\u00a0At once an intimate portrait of its fabrics\u2019 former wearer and an abstract composition,\u00a0the piece represents a metamorphosis of garment into art, a transfiguration of the private and\u00a0personal into a universal and immortal object. A large part of that inspiration was art.
