Minister of Commerce Mrs Apiradi Tantraporn said at the opening of a Dinner Talk titled “Towards global leadership in the Gems and Jewelry Industry” that the event – held in association with the Department of International Trade Promotion, the International Trade Training Institute and the Gems and Jewelry Institute of Thailand – is part of the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair and is organized to impart knowledge and advice to Thai businessmen on trends in the world’s gems and jewelry market. The information can act as a guide to help them compete and ensure Thai gems and jewelry meet world standards and trends, hence leading to high demand. These objectives can be achieved by constantly designing and developing new products and continuously innovating, she added.

The President of the World Jewelry Confederation (WJC), Mr. Gaetano Cavalieri, who is an internationally acclaimed gems and jewelry expert from Italy, will also deliver a special address at the Dinner Talk, which will be graced by his presence. With preparations for the fair almost nearing completion, the ministry is at the moment coordinating with related parties on the details of the construction of display booths and launching widespread public relations campaigns to attract visitors. The public relations team has also been working hard in the country and overseas to invite thousands of visitors. Apart from issuing invitations to people on the list in our database, we are also buying ad space/time to promote the fair in the media in the country and overseas so news about the event reaches a wide section of the public,” she said.
