Wat Chaiwattanaram one of the most important temples in the Ayutthaya Historic Park, to see if it will remain dry during this year’s floods. The U.S. Embassy, the Thai Ministry of Culture’s Fine Arts Department and the World Monument Fund have partnered on a major restoration effort at Wat Chaiwattanaram, with the United States providing over $1 million under the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP). The project, one of the largest in the world for the U.S. Department of State, came in response to severe flooding at  the temple in 2011. Part of the project included the design and building of a new side wall to prevent flooding.
