The unofficial confirmation has been released that the government will invite His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to ascend the throne as the 10th King of the Chakri Dynasty, of the Kingdom of Thailand on 1 December 2016, when will be also held the pre 50th-day Grand Royal Funeral Service of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
It is discussed on 1 December 2016 will not be considered as the beginning of the new reign. According to the 1924 Palace Law of Succession, Article 6 is stated “the heir apparent will succeed the throne immediately after the previous king.” 13 October 2016 will be hence still considered officially as the first day of the reign.
For the unofficial title and style: King Vajiralongkorn Bodintorn Thepayavarankun (referred shortly as Vajiralongkorn, under the regnal name as Rama X). His full title will be changed after his formal coronation in the following year.
From 1 December 2016, the new protocol and honour to be used to the new king. The new title will be stated on the royal household’s announcement and agendas from 3 December 2016. The information will be released after the official announcement with us Royal World Thailand
Furthermore, another unofficial information was also released about the new title of his mother the Queen Sirikit will be given the title of “the Queen Mother”. However, documents and agendas from the royal household still refer her title as “Queen Sirikit of the 9th Reign” (shortly as Queen Sirikit, referred as “the Queen Dowager”).
All new titles for all members of the royal family will be announce the reference unofficially until the new king’s formal coronation.
